Victor Frankenstein is a brilliant, young university student from Switzerland who becomes completely obsessed with the secrets of life and death. He believes that science can conquer mortality. Working in complete isolation for two years, Victor steals rotting human limbs from graveyards, bones from dissecting rooms, and tissues from slaughterhouses to construct a massive, eight-foot-tall human frame.
On a cold, stormy night in November, Victor connects his creation to a complex electrical machine, hoping to spark life. Suddenly, the rain beats against the window, and by the half-extinguished light of the candle, the creature opens its dull yellow eyes. It breathes heavily, and its muscles twitch. Instead of feeling proud, Victor is struck with pure horror. The creature’s watery eyes, yellowish skin that barely covers its muscles, and black lips look utterly monstrous. Overcome with regret and terror, Victor runs out of his laboratory and flees into the streets, abandoning the newly born creature to the dark world.
The creature is left entirely alone, with the mind of a newborn baby but the giant body of a monster. He wanders into the cold forests, struggling to find food, fire, and shelter, while every human he meets screams in terror and attacks him with stones. Eventually, the creature finds a small, hidden shed attached to a poor cottage where a kind family lives.
For months, he stays hidden, secretly watching them through a small crack in the wall. By observing them, he learns how to speak, read, and understand deep human emotions like love, kindness, and sorrow. He even brings them firewood at night without them knowing. The creature begins to feel a deep love for humanity and decides to approach the blind old grandfather of the house, hoping for acceptance. The old man speaks to him kindly, but when the rest of the family returns and sees the terrifying giant, they panic. They brutally beat him away. Heartbroken and rejected by the only people he loved, the monster's sadness turns into burning hatred. He burns the cottage down and vows to find his creator, Victor, to make him pay. He tracks Victor to Switzerland and murders Victor’s innocent young brother, William, leaving a trail of sorrow.
Victor, consumed by guilt and grief, meets his monster high up in the icy mountains of the Alps. The creature speaks with incredible intelligence and deep sadness, explaining how humanity's cruelty made him a murderer. He gives Victor a choice: "You must create a female companion for me who looks just as monstrous as I do, so we can live away from humans in peace. If you do this, I will never harm anyone again. If you refuse, I will destroy everything you love."
Fearing for his remaining family, Victor travels to a remote island in Scotland to begin building a female creature. However, halfway through the process, Victor begins to think about the consequences. What if the two monsters hate each other? What if they create a whole race of devils that destroy humanity? Looking up, Victor sees the monster grinning through the window. In a fit of rage, Victor tears the half-finished female body to pieces. The monster enters the room, weeping with anger, and delivers a chilling promise: "I shall be with you on your wedding night!"
The monster keeps his word. Months later, on Victor’s wedding night, the creature slips into the bridal suite while Victor is guarding the doors outside. A sudden scream pierces the night. Victor rushes inside only to find his beautiful new bride, Elizabeth, strangled to death on the bed. The monster stands at the window, points at her corpse with a cruel laugh, and escapes into the darkness.
With his father dying of a broken heart shortly after, Victor loses everything. He dedicates his entire existence to hunting down the monster. The chase lasts for months, leading them across continents and deep into the frozen, empty wasteland of the Arctic circle. Victor, exhausted, freezing, and near death, is rescued by a passing ship. He tells his tragic story to the ship’s captain and begs him to kill the beast before Victor passes away from hypothermia. Later that night, the captain hears a strange noise in the cabin. He finds the giant monster standing over Victor’s dead body, weeping with deep regret and sorrow. The creature confesses that killing Victor brought him no peace, only more pain. He tells the captain he will build a massive funeral pyre at the North Pole to burn himself to ash, before leaping from the ship onto an ice raft, disappearing forever into the dark, frozen mist.
